I’m still alive!

I have been so terrible at maintaining my blog, it’s almost embarrassing! For the past couple of months, I haven’t posted anything but a bunch of release statements for product updates. Terrible, I know… I have made so many commitments to blogging regularly, but so far I haven’t been able to keep it up for more then a couple of weeks. Apparently it’s a common issue amongst the self-employed and entrepreneurs. So, I am not going to say I’m renewing my commitment (although I am hehehe, don’t tell anyone!).

Anyway, I figured it’s about time I’d post an update and let the world know what’s happening in my life at the moment. I am still focussing heavily on producing and selling software over at CodeCanyon (you can see my portfolio here). So far, things are going pretty well… I’m not a millionaire just yet, but I’m looking at a decent sum of cash every month, on average around $4,000 at the moment. As of today, I have sold to 2377 customers and I have 6 products in my portfolio.

Although things are going well and I’m pretty content with the current situation, this is definitely not something I will want to keep doing for many more years. Actually, let me rephrase that: I want to do other stuff as well. I have decided to stick with building my portfolio on Envato until the end of the year and then start looking for the next gig. I would still love to build a product that generates recurring income through subscriptions rather then one-off sales, so I will likely venture in that direction.

The latest product I released on Envato is called SiteCloner. It’s a little web app which let’s users create static clones of pretty much any website. I actually developed most of the code for another project I have been working on (Failswitch) and figured there might be other uses out there who find this code useful. So I wrapped it in a pretty little UI and uploaded it to my portfolio. It’s been doing pretty well selling over 90 times (and making a little north of $1,500) in less then a month. Considering it was code I already had laying around, it’s definitely a nice little earner!

Currently, I’m working on a new invoicing app. Yep, an invoicing app… I know there’s already a million invoicing applications out there, but honestly I haven’t found a single one that meets my needs (and trust me, I have tried them all). This feeling was echoed by a couple of colleagues and friends, hence I figured I might give it a shot! I have posted some screenshots below so people can see where I am heading with the UI.

Since I have a holiday and trip to Europe coming up, I probably won’t be releasing the latest product until the end of August.

In addition to the invoicing application, I also have a couple of big updates planned for SiteBuilder Lite and Databased, stay tuned for more info on updates for these two products.
